1.     What modes does your text make use of? Words, music, drama, spoken word from movie, clips from movies, footage of athletes, spoken word from speech given guy
2.     Audience
a.     Who, very specifically, is the audience for your text? NOTE: It might be worth considering if you think you fall into the author’s intended target audience for the text. If not, what are the differences between how you might read/perceive the text and how the target audience might? I perceive it all young athletes, of any race or gender being the main audience. I also think it is applicable to young people who are in need of motivation.
b.     How does the author use pronouns like “you,” “we,” and “us?” When the author uses these pronouns who is he/she specifically referring to? How do these pronouns affect the way the author is constructing an audience? They use the word “you” a lot to envoke a certain message relaying directly to the viewer. Since this is a motivation video, it makes sense to do it that way becaseu it can be more powerful of a message when they use “you”. Example: “You have the power”, “You make the choice”
c.     How does the author construct a relationship between themselves and their audience? The author pulls together the person with the video by using film and entertainment that they are accustomed to. They show video of famous atheltes hurting and getting back to where they were, like Derrick Rose. They use films that star Will Smith and Sylvester Stallone to make then more noticed.
d.     What words or phrases stand out and let you know how the author is imagining their audience? “Let me tell you something you already know. The world aint all sunshine and rainbows.” “It aint about how hard you hit, it is about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward” are the ones that are in the first 30 seconds of the video. It is almost to empathize with the people watching that you are going to make mistakes.
3.     Authorial Identity:
a.     How does the author construct his/her own identity in relationship to the reader? Opening with the production name “ Hedgehog Production Presents”
b.     Does the author use “I” or “me”? Why? And how does this affect their relationship with their audience? “I don’t see why I can’t be the best player in the league” that is the quote form an interview of one of the athletes had. It is an example of a certain level of confidence.
4.     Purpose:
a.     What is the author’s purpose in writing? What is the author hoping to accomplish in the world with their text? How do they want people to feel, think, or act differently as a result of their text? This is a shot of adrenaline and confidence to your body. At least that is the mission. Which is great because they want to accomplish a level of motivation that will get them to dream of something.
b.     Find the sentence or two where the author first gives the indication of their argument and highlight it. Where does this fall in the text? “What are you going to do?!” this is the individualism that you are capable of being great. They use a clip from Rocky, when he is getting beaten down, to not give up.
c.     Find the sentence where the author most clearly states their purpose or argument? Where, within the text is this? “You the people have the power. The power to create machines, the power to create happiness, you have the power to make this life free and beautiful”
5.     Does the author make use of outside research or secondary sources? If so, how and where? The entire video is a collection of secondary resource. All of the deferent video clips are from movies and sports footage. The voice over is tossed around to make powerful mien to it.
6.     Organization:
a.     How does the author organize the text? Starts off with acknowledging the mistakes we make, then a story of getting beat down. Then it rises to not giving up, and athletes doing incredible things. How does he transition from idea to idea? They use music, which starts very slow and somber, to fast and exciting.
b.     What kinds of words or language does the author use to connect his or her ideas together? They use speeches and profound sentences to get the viewer in the mood.
7.     Genre:
a.     How would you define or name the genre of your text. Remember, a genre is a type of thing that reoccurs, has conventions, and uses those conventions to convey meaning.
b.     What are the conventions of this genre? Clips of people failing, and then getting up
8.     Images
a.     How did the author use still images (photos or drawings) in the text? Rocky hunched over after running
b.     What work are these images doing to help the author accomplish his purpose? It is a scene in a dark place and the work it takes to succeed in boxing. It shows a dark place it is to be working and loosing, but you can leave it.
9.     Music and Sound:
a.     How does the text make use of sound effects (other than spoken words) or music to help it accomplish its purpose? It is an ominous feel from the beginning, but it falls and then rises as apart of the message
b.     How would your characterize these sounds/music? Why does the author use them as she does? I characterize them in a setting of forgiveness, failure, and success
10.  Video:
a.     How does the text make use of movement/action? Athletes failing and winning
b.     How does the text make use of lighting and camera angle? They make use of darker picture to add with the message that is more somber
c.     What effect do these choices have on the piece? Why would the author have chosen to do this? To get the video a sense of working as a sorrow feel of failure. That doing your best is in your power.
d.     How do these choices help the text accomplish its purpose for its audience? It is lighting that can help show that one individual has the power to change things.

3.   Then put in the words I wrote as trasnsiton to videos of people judging
4.   Videos of people’s misinterpretations being wrong
5.   Bring back the pictures showing that the judgement was worng
6.   Hopeful ending
7.   Music then flows with it
8.   Ending with no music, so that the person can think and have a shock factor

Recipe:
1.   interview clips
2.   music
3.   real life drama from another video
in order to get the person intrigues, the music is vital as background noise so that it feels like a film. It is about drawing a conversation form your beliefs, to the outside world, and then relaying it on to the viewer. At the end there can be the sense that we are all in this together.
