Does
society value the ones who do best for them, or do best for everyone else? And
are these two things related or different? This a question that I settled on
for thinking about the construct of our success stories, as we continue on life’s
journey. Since I have started college, I have this intense feeling of possibility
everyday. That this is a place where dreams are sparked, giving it the
beginning embers to turn later into your fire. It is meaningful because it begs
the answer: how should I go about doing this? It is a fact that you have to do
work, in order to get benefits in the occupation you choose. Yet I have always
tried to be for others. That is the golden rule right? When I hear people say
that getting a lot of money is the root to happiness, I just want to ask them
this question because it makes you wonder whether taking what is yours, is the
best. I think is society today, this is a big question. Today, many massive
corporations have power to endorse opinions that can over rule the publics say
in big issues. The biggest one being climate change. This question has multiple
answers because one perspective could be one on one side, and another scenario
could see them as working as one. The tangent questions to this question can go
off into personal struggle, as well as negative associations. For example, is
the categorizing and the word ‘selfish’ change your mind about things? Then
again, we are all human, and we sometimes make mistakes or become
self-centered. I don’t think that it is broad, because it looks at society and
what we value in success. I think that it can be spread, however, to make
projects and stories into smaller sections of this topic. I don’t want to make
people think that I am boxing in people with what I have seen from their success.
I just want to know as we progress through our history, in what writing will it
be in? I don’t think that I have anything that judges the people whom my
writing covers. This is the open ended question that I hope makes me wonder
about the world around me and how to go about doing it. Taking what you have
learned could go two ways: turning it on its head or using it, as a stepping
stool is what I hope for this.
Imagine
yourself getting ready for the day in the morning. You go through the routine
of making yourself a good representation and to feel better. Now imagine the
role of those items. If you could pick, which one is the most important? In today’s
world, one could have a sturdy base for the argument of the mirror. It is your
key to plotting your direction with your pulchritude. Like a map, it is the
setting of the coordinates. When you are going to something formal, it is a
social paradigm that you wear clothes, and fixes your hair. The material is
showing nothing more than the reflection of you. The part that makes this item
so interesting is how you see yourself in the mirror.
Your brain
can do nasty things to you. Sometimes the things we see, are either what we
want, or don’t want to see. When I look into the mirror, sometimes I feel an
examination that I am controlling. I feel that we examine ourselves a lot in
this world. The mirror isn’t just piece of glass, it is the reflection when
your video is loading. It is the camera on your [hone, taking a selfie 5 times
until it shows the peak of your symmetrical aesthetic sign you wear on your
head. I think the reflection is based in pictures. The profiles on football
websites have defiantly scoped me out and made me a public figure. The question
is, what I we looking at? What do we value in this world: the ones who enjoy
the exam or the ones who prefer the mirror stay away? My question deals with
the morals of selflessness and the self-serving. How can our reflection be good
and bad? Is our attention too much on this magnet?
Great Question! I love the way you revised this to make it a bit more specific. This seems like something you can really explore in many ways. I think--based on reading your writing so far--the biggest challenge for you is going to wrangling all of these big thoughts you have into some thing manageable and directed. For this first project, you'll want to pick just one very little slice of this big question to focus on. I might start with you and your connection to this question so you don't wonder into the land of philosophy too soon and wonder too far.
